Igor Alexandrovich Kuznetsov
Research supervisor of department of sports traumatology and rehabilitation at Russian research institute of traumatology and orthopaedics named after R.R.Vreden of Russian Healthcare Ministry.
Igor Kuznetsov was born in 1959 in Irkutsk.
As of 1981 after graduation from Irkutsk medical institute works in “traumatology and orthopaedics” speciality, as of 1984 – at Russian research institute of traumatology and orthopaedics named after R.R.Vreden. Key area of professional activity is the joints surgery and arthroscopy. Has 30 years of professional service including 25 years dedicated to formation and development of arthroscopy in St.Petersburg. Dr.Kuznetsov performed more than 8000 surgeries. In 1990 defended a candidate’s thesis on “Diagnostics and surgical treatment of acute lesions of capsule and ligaments of the knee joint”. In 1999 defended a doctor’s thesis on “Improvement of treatment methods of lesions and diseases in the knee joint using endoscopy techniques”.
From 1997 till 2009 was the research supervisor of endoscopy surgery department at Russian research institute of traumatology and orthopaedics named after R.R.Vreden. As of 2009 (due to renaming of department) and till present is the chief of research department of sports traumatology and rehabilitation. Dr.Kuznetsov is the vice-president of Russian arthroscopic society, member of ESSKA, is the author of eight inventions and more than 120 publications. Dr.Kuznetsov is specializing in current methods of arthroscopy surgical treatment of lesions and diseases of the knee, shoulder and elbow joints.
