Kochish Alexander (Yurievich), born 25.02.1959, Doctor of Medicine (1998), Professor (2001), deputy director of the Russian Scientific Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedics named after R.R.Vreden of Russian Health Ministry.
General medicine diploma with honors received upon graduation in 1982 from Military Medical Academy named after S.M.Kirov. Military medical and surgical service was followed by residency in surgery in 1983. In 1985 was admitted to postgraduate military course at department of operative surgery at Military Medical Academy. In 1988 defended the candidate’s thesis “Lateral femur surface as donor site for microsurgical autografting of tissue complexes” in the “surgery” speciality. Worked in operative surgery department of Military Medical Academy in positions of lecturer, master lecturer, assistant professor, professor. In 1998 defended the doctor’s thesis “Anatomical and clinical rationale for axial complex skin flap grafting in lower limb” in the “surgery” and “anthropotomy” specialities. In 2001 was conferred to an academic title of Professor.
Starting 2004 works at the Russian Scientific Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedics named after R.R.Vreden on various positions, starting as of August 2006 in position of deputy director for education and science. In 2005 underwent professional retraining at St.Petersburg Medical Academy for postgraduate study and received diploma on the “traumatology and orthopaedics” speciality. Holds a specialists’ certificate of trauma and orthopaedic surgeon valid till October 2019.
Has more than 350 scientific publications including a monograph, 6 chapters in various manuals for surgeons, more than 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals. Holds 21 authors’ certificate or patent for invention of Russian Federation. Area of expertise: reconstructive microsurgery of limbs and trauma and orthopaedic issues related to osteoporosis. 2 doctors’ theses and 11 candidate’s theses were successfully defended under his guidance.
Member of the Presidium of the Russian trauma and orthopaedic surgeons association and member of the board of the Russian osteoporosis association. Member of editorial board of scientific journals: “Russian Traumatology and Orthopaedics” (St.Petersburg) and “Issues of plastic and reconstructive surgery” (Tomsk). Member of dissertation council at the Russian Scientific Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedics named after R.R.Vreden and at the Military Medical Academy named after S.M.Kirov in the “traumatology and orthopaedics” speciality as well as member of dissertation council at the Military Medical Academy named after S.M.Kirov in the “anthropotomy” speciality.
