Alexey Georgievich Baindurashvili
Chief children’s trauma and orthopaedic surgeon of St.Petersburg, honored doctor of Russian Federation, doctor of medicine, professor, academician of Russian Science Academy.
In 1971 graduated from the First Leningrad medical institute. In November 1971 started working at the Turner Scientific Research institute for children’s orthopaedics: first as physician, then – chief of burns unit, acting academic secretary, and currently – director of institute.
Prof. Baindurashvili is one of the leading specialists of the Russian Federation in children’s traumatology and orthopaedics. He is the author of more than 300 scientific papers including three monographs, chapters in 3 manuals for surgeons, 20 guidance manuals and methodic recommendations for surgeons, three inventions. Two doctor’s and five candidate’s theses were defended under his supervision, currently 7 more dissertation studies are carried out including three for doctor’s theses.
Starting 2001 Prof. Baindurashvili is heading the faculty for children’s traumatology, orthopaedics and surgery of Northwest State medical university named after I.I.Mechnikov.
