Leonid Nikolaevich Solomin, MD, professor, chief research fellow of Russian research institute of traumatology and orthopaedics named after R.R.Vreden, professor of general surgery faculty at St.Petersburg State University, honored professor of Russian scientific center named after academician G.A.Ilizarov. 

In 1986 graduated from Blagoveschensk State medical institute. After defending a candidate’s thesis from 1991 to 1993 worked in position of assistant at faculty of traumatology, orthopaedics and field surgery of Blagoveschensk medical institute. In 1993 was invited to Irkutsk research institute of traumatology and orthopaedics under Russian medical academy to take the position of senior research fellow at laboratory of transosseous internal fixation. In 1996 defended a doctor’s thesis on “Controlled combined internal fixation of long bones: development, rationale and clinical application”. In 1998 became the head of laboratory of new techniques for treatment of consequences of trauma and diseases of locomotor system at Irkutsk research institute of traumatology and orthopaedics. Since 2000 works at Russian research institute of traumatology and orthopaedics named after R.R.Vreden. Since 2013 is the professor at chair of general surgery at medical faculty of St.Petersburg university.

Is the author of more than 450 publications including 54 inventions, 34 chapters in various monographs and five monographs. Two monographs were translated into English and Chinese languages. Principal works are dedicated to development, improvement and clinical application of transosseous, hybrid and combined internal fixation in fractures, pseudoarthrosis, bone defects and deformities; foot deformities, large joints pathology.
